Some of the SES crew was on hand to celebrate with our Whitaker neighbors at the August 1st Whitaker Block party. Festival visitors to the SES table expressed a strong interest in our ideas and goals. All in all, a couple thousand people walked through, or stayed to enjoy the festivities. It was a hot afternoon, so the slip-and-slide had a very long line. The SES crew enjoyed the added bonus of hot dogs and twizzlers! MySpaceWhitaker and the WBP website.

Thanks to the City of Eugene Recreation coordinators and sponsors Tactics, Boardsports, and Cactus. The turnout for the skate competition at Cal Young was great and well attended by all ages. Here are the results: 12 and under: 1st – Joey Winn; 2nd – Drake K. Moody; 3rd – Jacob Williams. 13-16: 1st – Sofa King; 2nd – NuNu; 3rd – Tyler Percell. Sponsored/17 and up: 1st – Calvin Ngo; 2nd – Nick Ricker; 3rd – Jeff Tufts. Thanks to the SES volunteers and donors at the event, over $300 was raised for SES! SES Promotes Protection at Safety Fest

SES volunteers were on hand Saturday, June 20th, at Eugene’s EMS Safet Fest in Alton Baker Park to promote the use of skateboarding helmets and instruct visitors on the proper use and fitting of protective gear such as wristguards, elbow pads, and knee pads. Thanks to Tactics for donating several skateboard helmets that were offered in the giveaway raffle.
